I hope you are all having a beautiful Saturday today! Then again every day is a beautiful day. Today’s little get out and about hike is located at the Año Nuevo State Park, a few miles north of Santa Cruz. This park follows the coast and it is filled with elephant seals!!!

Call it luck or whatever, this second hike was freaking beautiful as well! The day was not only clear and blue, but it was also very warm by the end. At first I was very worried that it might actually be a sucky day. The weather forecast had called for some rain and as we drove towards Santa Cruz it seemed our day was going to be covered by grey skies. Yet, as we approached, the clouds began moving into the mountains and the coast cleared up. By the time our hike was over it was blue all over and it was super warm! I could have not ask for a better day to see some awesome elephant seals.

Año Nuevo Point is where a rookery of elephant seals gather, from December to March, to do their annual social thing. Moms come and have their babies, stay with them for four weeks, then go mate, and head back to the ocean. The male elephant seals are not as friendly during this time since it is mating season and are battling with other males for good spots. The weaners (baby elephant seals) hang around the beach, after being with their moms for 4 weeks, and learn how to swim before heading out into the ocean.

You can actually see elephant seals year round since they travel on their own and come upon the beach at their own time. After 3-4 months (after the mating season) they come back to molt their skin. At that time the males are a lot friendlier with each other.

It was so awesome seeing these animals! I mean I will give it to you that they are just laying there sunbathing, but they are amazing nonetheless. It was so cool seeing the babies practicing their swimming skills by ocean. Only going in a few feet in and swimming side to side. Did you know they are born without knowing how to swim?! This actually results in a few of them dying because they drown. I was sadden to learn that 😦 .

There is also an island at Año Nuevo Point in which the people that guarded the lighthouse lived on. They built a fence around their house in order to keep the seals outside of it. I thought that was funny. Now it is taken over by seals and they have made it their home.

Anywhoos…hope you like the pics. I was using my phone and its not a great picture taker. I have some in my camera, but missing the cord to connect it to my computer :/ . I tell ya. Lol

About a year ago I bought Moon Book’s: 101 Great Hikes of the San Francisco Bay Area. My first attempt at hiking a trail from the book resulted in me being super cold and being told I shouldn’t be hiking alone. After that I kinda didn’t touch the book until about a year later. Once I realized the weather was just too beautiful to take for granted I decided I would not just collect hiking books. I would use them! So I have began my hiking journey. Hope you enjoy the pics and words behind them. Also perhaps it will get you to explore your own area and discover what beauties hide behind the concrete walls.

My strategy with the hikes is to complete all the trails labeled easy by the author, then move up from there. To kick things off, I headed off to a marsh that boarded the coast of California. Do I need to say more!

Let me just say that the day was beyond beautiful. I could have not ask for a better day to start my exploration of trails in the bay area. The skies were blue, with very little white clouds, and the sun was shining brighter than ever. IT WAS MAGNIFICENT. The trail heads off from the beach and as we walked farther away from it, and into the marsh, I just knew we would be back to just chill and admire that beauty as well.

The Sequoia Audubon Trail heads into the Pescadero Marsh in which the Pescadero Creek runs through. At the entrance of the hike driftwood litters the beach next to the beginning of the creek. It is a great place for a day out on the beach or perhaps even a bonfire. Not sure they are legal there, but there was evidence of some that have happened in the past.

As I walked through the easy trail I was just overwhelmed by the uninterrupted sky. It seemed so endless and grand.

We walked on and passed little bridges, fallen trees, and trees who have grown in all directions without the restriction of buildings.

The trail ends where the flatten part of the marsh clashes with the forest of very tall, thin, trees. The hike was really easy and a great start for a beginner like me. It definitely triggered in me the desire to continue on exploring.

If you ever find yourself in California’s Bay area and somewhat near to Half Moon Bay then head out to this trail for a quick glance of the beauty that California stills holds.













On our way back we decided to stop for a little at the beach and take some pictures. At the beach we saw a group of baby seagulls testing the ocean waters. They would walk toward the water and as the tide came in, would run back so as to not get drifted away with it. It was so cute to see!!!! A rock bridge was another great sight to see and picture perfect moment.

Hello my gym enthusiasts….or not.

I can not express the excitement I am in, in order to start Greg Plitt’s MFT 28 program from Body Building Website. I just finished a 30 day to 6 pack program and that kinda has set something off in my brain and motivation. I just want to push harder. I want to sweat like all those other weight lifters.

Currently I am taking this week off of intense work-outs to get ready for this program. There are a lot of new exercises that I have never done before. The MFT 28 program focuses on weight training at a rather rapid pace. Which means I can’t be “figuring” out my starting weight during my first week. That has to be established before. I am doing that this week and practicing the exercises as well. Do not want to get hurt, other than the good “sore” feeling.

The plan calls for working out twice a day. Starting your day with a very INTENSE work-out, which means low reps, high weights. Then at night you repeat the same work-out exercise at night but instead of focusing on weight, you focus on fat burning. Which means higher reps lower weights. EXCITING!!!!!!

The plan also calls for a rather specific diet, an almost all juice/shake diet. Basically you take a protein shake before each work-out, one after each work-out. So that is 4 protein shakes per day. One full proper clean meal. High-Protein, low-carb, caveman meal. You can eat until you are full. This meal is taken as your lunch. Between workouts and your meal you also take a bridge liquid meal, which is basically casein powder and water/milk. The bridge meal before lunch can be mixed up with some fruit and veggies, but the one you take before going to bed has to be just the powder and milk.

The diet is what worries me the most. I mean its an intense work-out then to just follow it with shakes and juices. Funny how the food is what worries me more, than the pain I will be in from the soreness. *shakes head*

Anywhoos check out the program! Would love to have some people do it with me. Lol. It would be a great experiment. 🙂

Good Day to all my pretties out there.

I am so happy. I want to celebrate my big accomplishment of sticking to a 30 day ab program and finishing it. My 30th day was yesterday with a 30 minute uphill treadmill cardio. The program calls for 6 days of gym time, 3 of those 6 days has two visits to the gym. One in the morning for cardio and one in the evening for the strength training.

I am including a little review on the program and pictures of my work log. The pictures are of sets that I am most proud of or of sets that I didn’t think I could do, but I did!

In this set I progressed from just lifting the bar (0 lbs) and at the end being able to lift 10lbs.

The Program: 30 Days to 6-Pack Abs by 

The Good:

  • I like that the program is 30 days. A month goes so quickly.
  • Awesome variety in strength training. Something different each work-out session.
  • When it came to the ab workouts they were exercises both repetitive and new. You can see the improvement.
  • It gives you an idea of how much time you should be resting. It is so hard for a new person going into training to know how much to rest.
  • With designated reps and sets it gives you a sense of pushing yourself since you only have a specific number of sets or reps to do with each exercise.
Oh my gawd! I was so afraid to do these. I saw myself falling on my arse. So far I have not and now can go 10 on my first set. Yay!

The Bad ( I am a gym rat….so I don’t have a lot… lol):

  • The two day at the gym situation. At some points I did want to work-out. I wanted to do cardio, but I was so sick of the going indoors. I began doing hikes and outdoor jogging/walks. After awhile though it gets to you, but for me it was just a couple of times during the month.

  • You have to have deep commitment to go to the gym 6 times out of the week for four weeks and a few days.
  • When you get bored of the gym, get ready to hit the outdoors.
  • No EXCUSES. There is no room for “I am tired days”. You only have one rest day and it is planned. You are going to have to just tough it out.
  • Push yourself! Just be safe. The program really makes you feel like you have to push yourself. Especially like in sets when you only do 6 reps. Just remember to be safe. Especially when dealing with dumbbells. If you have a spotter then you can push harder.
  • If any of the exercises hurt or you are not comfortable with look for an alternative. There is a decline skull crusher in the program. I was totally not comfortable with that just because I do not have a spotter. So I opted out and did it on a flat bench. Don’t hurt yourself!
  • Hit the gym pumped to hit it hard. I mean after all its ONLY 30 days.

My Results: I did not go into this program expecting the 6 pack as a result. I went into it because my belly area has just been so hard to get rid of. I was trying all that I knew and not working. So what I was looking for in this program was to see the belly change somewhat. Which it did. A couple of weeks ago I measured myself and had lost 8 inches around my waist. I can definitely see the curve of my waist become more drastic. The belly is also changing shape which is awesome cause that means some of that fat is turning into muscle. I am happy 😀

Evening Dollies,

Quick post tonight. Just wanted to share with all of you that I can eat cookies again!!!! I have been working hard at creating bread without flour. Today I accomplished that. I made cookies full of protein and goodness. There is absolutely no flour being used, just oats.

I got the recipe from the blog Watching What I Eat. I originally found it on pinterest and pinned it. Then it lead me to her blog with the recipe. I did exactly what she says except for the protein powder. I did not use vanilla. I used chocolate just because I didn’t have the vanilla and really wanted some protein in there.

The result? They are a little darker cookies than the ones shown in her pictures. They also have that chocolatey taste. I also did not add chocolate chips since well I can’t and did not want to actually. Which is funny. That I actually did not want to add chocolate chips. <<Mind Blown!!!!’

I had a “oh my gawd” moment. I was driving to the coffee shop thinking about writing this entry and I realized that…..I realized….*tear*….I realized I would take my no flour, no sugar, no eggs, cookies over any cake or cookie presented to me. I actually believed that I would rather eat my healthy little cookie vs. all those sugary desserts I have so craved for before. I was ASTOUNDED! I could not believe that I am actually CHANGING. I AM CHANGING.

*whispers* “The funniest thing is that I have already changed!” How I eat, what I put down, what I put in my mouth (*giggles*), seriously. It is healthy 90% of the time. No I believe 98% of the time. It is insane! I really can not believe it to be honest. I really just can not. Anywhoos. (<<My little “minimize good things” voice)

Dollies please check this cookie recipe and try it out! They are so tasty and honestly filling! You can not have more than like 2 at a seating. Great thing?! Since it is mostly protein they keep you full, unlike regular cookies that make you go back for more. *sigh* It is a good day for me. 🙂



P.S. I am thinking that you can save the trouble of spooning these and making them into cookies. Instead just dump the batter in a pan. Then once done cut into bars. PERFECT after work-out bar snack!!!!

Good Morning Dollies,

I have seriously been lacking on this blog entries. This week has gone rather quickly. I am quite amazed its Friday already. For some reason or another I have just not had time to write my blogs or do much of anything else, which is kinda annoying. But anywhoooos here is today.

As mentioned in earlier blogs I started a Detox on January 14th and ended it the 20th. The Detox runs for a complete seven days. In these seven days all that is consumed is veggies and fruits. More veggies than fruits of course. Along with the food restrictions you also take in some supplements to clean out your system.


Now I know perhaps you are thinking to yourself that is impossible. You really can’t do it or simply you are just not willing to sacrifice that much for your weight loss. Well I really can’t help you much with the last part. One must be really be ready to loose the weight to go through this commitment. For any program, the hardest days are the first ones and that is for sure true of this program.

The hardest thing during this 7 day cleanse, I believe, is the broadening of the mind as to what you could possibly make with just veggies. All I could think of was salads, steamed, and raw. Not that many options when you are supposed to live on them for 7 days. I have had previous experiences with restraining certain foods from my diet.  So I was able to hold on for three days with that determination. Yet, on that 4th day I was pretty sick and tired of steamed and raw veggies. I began craving something that looked and tasted like a MEAL. So I began researching. Let me tell you I didn’t find many options for recipes that used no oils, but if you look hard enough there is always a recipe you can tweak to make it fit your needs.

The options are out there and with internet available at our finger tips there is no reason to fail. Loosing weight is not easy. If it was, everyone would be able to do it. One of the great things you will discover as you finish the detox is the fact that your world did not end because of your decision. You are still standing there healthy and with energy. You were more powerful than your mind’s craving for certain foods.

I think one of the greatest lessons people who loose weight learn is that although food is delicious, and always nice as a treat, its main purpose is not satisfy every single taste bud. It is to fill our bodies with the nutrients it needs. The purpose of food is to keep us HEALTHY. The purpose of food is to keep us ALIVE, not kill us. When we have made that distinction and learned that lesson it is always a little easier to pick the salad than fried chicken.

Afternoon Dollies,

I’m making up for not writing all week 😛 .

I just wanted to put up a quick recipe entry. One that I made and really loved! It was truly delicious. I thought I had taken a bunch of pictures of it too, but I can’t find them. 😦 Sad. I will have to make it again and take more pics for all of you.

As I was going through my 7 day detox I was really limited as to what to eat. At least I believed so, but I wasn’t really. I was just not really aware of how to cook with vegetables. I had never had to experience cooking with just veggies. Well I got on my computer and on the good old internet and found some awesome recipes. This is one.

The recipe is super simple, super easy. All you do is get the veggies, cut them up, boil the broth, and empty them into the pot. Add a little creole, or a lot. Depending what you like. Leave it to simmer for 30 minutes and bam! Awesome soup!

I can not recommend this soup enough. It is healthy, it is stocky, and it fills you up!!! AND YOU CAN EAT AS Screen shot 2013-02-01 at 10.01.52 AMMUCH AS YOU WANT OF IT!!!!!

The recipe calls for chicken broth, but I easily replaced that with vegetable broth. I am sure it would be as tasty with chicken broth. Dollies try it out!

Happy Friday Dollies,

Oh my gosh I can not believe it is Friday already! Much less that it is almost the end of January. Time flies by too quickly.

Many people have asked me how I lost the weight and its a bit hard for them to believe that it was just a matter of dropping the grains and exercising that got the ball rolling for me. As I have come to loose the weight I have realized just how miserable I was being so overweight and amazed that no one ever really pointed it out. If I was getting drunk every night, someone would have said something. If my arm was full needle points, someone would have said something. Yet, as I gained the pounds no one mentioned anything about my health or happiness.

As I have transformed into another person I have decided to help those women who are READY to change. Who all that they need is a person that they can be accountable to and call/text whenever they feel like they will break their much desired goal. I know that one of the biggest reasons for my success is that I had a friend who was there for me to be accountable to and to help me change the way I viewed myself.

As mentioned in earlier entries I began a new weight loss program. The program has two options: a rapid weight loss program and a steady weight loss program.

The reason I chose this program is because many people have asked how I lost weight and it is very hard for me to give them a structured plan. Since at the beginning it wasn’t really structured. I just stopped eating bread and anything with grains.

This program’s “Rapid Results” section is basically what I did, but it is developed and structured to help people loose weight quickly. I am not doing the “Rapid Results” one, but the “Sure & Steady Success” one because I am no longer trying to loose a lot of weight, but I am toning my body and loosing 10 pounds of fat.

Either program, you choose though, begins with a “Detox” part. In this Detox the body cleanses out all the bad stuff out of your system. During the detox all you are allowed to eat is vegetables and fruits. There are specific veggies you cant eat like, potatoes or yams. Yet, you have a large variety to choose from.

Starting a new program

Hola Dollies,

It is a new year and therefore new beginnings. As most of you know I have lost about 80lbs. and then have proceeded to really tone up my body. So although I do stand at 140lbs. I do not show it as much. I have been able to fit to a size 6 and that has made me super happy.

Yet, as hard as we all try there is that one area in our bodies that is as stubborn as a mule. For me that is the tummy area. I have tried giving my abs some much needed attention. What did I get? I can feel the muscle hardening, yet the rolls above it are still there. As much effort as I put in exercising, I know it is my diet that needs cleaning.

Now may people have said how awesome and beautiful I look. How I do not need to put myself through more habit changing programs. How I should be happy with how I look know and not be such a narc for not eating bread all the time, etc. Yet one thing that I want to get across in this blog and with this program, is that it is not that easy. Food is just not food for me. Food for me was a drug, IS a drug. I am making the big change from using food as a drug to using food as a nutrient, for its real purpose. This is a huge transition that is not going to end.

So, yes I do look good, but under the clothes there are still fat that I know does not belong there. That I know is NOT what I WANT. If I don’t want it, then I won’t have it. No matter how much other people are trying to fit me into what they believe to be healthy or normal.

Therefore, I have decided to begin a weight loss solution in order to change what is left to change in my eating habits. I am hoping that through this more of the belly fat is gone.

The program is called TLS Weight Loss Solution and the reason I decided to go for this product is because it really is not a cut everything and loose weight, but a “we will teach you how to eat properly.” The first step of the program is a detox in which all that is consumed is veggies and fruits. I am looking forward to this detox in order to really clean out my system.
