Hello Readers!!!

Today’s thought comes from the motivational video from yesterday. At the end of the video a statement is made.

Make a choice. Just decide what is going to be, who you are going to be, how you are going to do it. Just DECIDE. 

The more important thing is this. To be able at any moment to sacrifice what you are for what you will become. 

Every day that passes by I grow a bit more, not only physically, but point of view as well. As I continue to develop my weight loss program I have come to the conclusion that I do not believe in giving in. I do not believe in treats, I do not believe in cheat meals, I do not believe we deserve M&Ms once in awhile, I do not believe in being nice towards food.

I want to be a powerful, thin/toned, healthy, beautiful woman and I am willing to sacrifice what little cravings and weaknesses I currently have in order to become my dream. Therefore, this is exactly the kind of women I want to help transform other women into. I am so sick and tired seeing how we women can be so independent and hard working in most parts of their lives yet we come across a piece of chocolate and become little weaklings. We give up all our ideals, we give up all the hard work we have put in the gym, we give up the commitments we made to ourselves and others, we fall to our knees to bow down to that piece of food.

What’s worse is that we excuse it over and over again. We give ourselves a thousand and one reasons why we need or deserve that harmful food and seem to completely forget all the reasons why we don’t want to eat it. All those reasons don’t come flowing in until the cake is gone. Then we begin feeling guilty and put ourselves down for failing. For eating something we knew we shouldn’t or worse we actually feel it was ok to eat what we did. So the next time there is another slice of cake it becomes so much easier to say yes to it. Until we are back to square one, saying yes to all the crappy food out there because we have lost sight of our dreams and goals.

The reality of it is that at some point, of resisting eating sweets and breads, you no longer miss them. You only crave them when you are feeling negatively which then triggers you to deal with your emotions instead of eating them. It takes a lot of time to build that habit, but it really does happen. You just have to be ready to sacrifice what you are now, for what you want to become. Personally for me, I hated who I was and was more than happy to sacrifice her in exchange for who I am now. Even now I continue to sacrifice parts of me to maintain who I am and who I will continue to develop to become.

It is all a choice and you have to decide whether you are ready to sacrifice what you are now for who you desire to become. If you are not ready to sacrifice it, if you are not ready to give up your favorite dessert, if you are not ready to give up your favorite fried food, if you are not ready to give up all unhealthy foods, then you are just wasting time and energy. Might as well give up now and live the life you have so far created because you will never reach the life you dream and desire.

Dreams and desires are not given, they are taken. It reminds me of the Aztecs sacrifices. You need to be ready to sacrifice everything in order to get to the heart and offer it to the gods. In order to offer it to yourself. Your heart is where your dreams live, so are you ready to sacrifice everything else in order to save your beating heart?

MVM: Pain is Temporary

Hello Dollies,

The end of the month is here! I swear time just flies when you get older. I wish it could just slow down as slow as it was when I was 20. Dang it!

Today’s motivational video was a game changer for me. It was what finally clicked in me and told me to get organized! For a year and three months I have been battling with this 135-145lbs body. In a year I went from 220 to 140lbs, but since then I have not been able to make much improvement. One of my most frustrating things has been my belly. It just won’t budge. It wont! I keep trying exercise after exercise, but NADA. Now I am not ungrateful for all of my hard work because it has changed my body to look much toner.

One of the things I realized, a few months ago, was that my diet really had to change if I really wanted the belly to change. I had to buckle down and not only eat a clean diet, but a clean designated diet. That means that I would have to plan my meals. Oh how I did not like this idea, I am still not a great fan of it. I kept putting it aside and putting it aside, ignoring the reality facing me. It is no secret that food is key to belly change along with exercise.

It wasn’t until I saw this video that I became determined to make the change. To stop the excuses of “I don’t want to get bored with my food, I don’t have time to plan it all, I don’t want to be eating chicken every day, I like variety in my diet.” It was when I saw those men in the kitchen creating their meals that the truth slapped me across the face. If what I truly desired was a smaller belly then I had to do what they were doing. I had to cook my meals, measure them, and prepare them the cleanest way possible. If I wanted to change my life, I had to change my focus, again. I had changed focus two years ago and accomplished what I set myself to do. Now it was time for another change. It was time to stop wasting my time and see my hard work across my body.

I know what I am worth and I will go for it. I am worth a lot more than variety in my diet. I am worth a lot more than eating a fruit whenever I want. I am worth a lot more than a handful of unplanned nuts. I am worth a lot more than food. Food serves me and not the other way around. Food is meant to create the beauty I desire and nothing more. I believe this step of planning my meals will get me closer to changing my mentality to that.

Hello Dollies and Gents!

I hope you woke up with a smile on your face and a thankfulness to the world that your eyes opened this morning. Today’s motivational video comes from MuscleProdigyTV on youtube. Off the bat though, a little warning, it is a little hard to hear the words behind the music. The music is a little too loud. So you will have to pay a little more attention. Yet the intensity is there. I love seeing bodybuilding men. Not necessarily because I think they are hot, which that much muscle kinda doesn’t really turn me on, but because it amazes me what the mind and body can create. It amazes me to see how men can commit to something so hard and accomplish it with hard work and dedication. It’s art.

One of the things that got triggered for me is about failing and trying again, not giving up. As I have mentioned before weight loss never stops for people who were as overweight as I was. For people, like me, that food has become a drug. It is an endless battle that I fight every single day. Every single day I have to say no to a million things, especially when I am out and about.

I have had to come to terms with my own mini failures as well. There have been meals, in which not only did I not eat healthy, but also lacked the will to go and work-out. Time in which I spent endlessly hating myself for being sedentary, instead of doing what I know its right. Those have been my failures. Before my failures used to be driving through the McDonalds drive-thru or eating a slice of cake. Each time though, that I did fail, that I did not stay true to what I knew was best for my body I would get up again and try again. I have not given up. It is harder to give up now that I am thinner, but even when I was at 210lbs and had eaten that cookie I wasn’t supposed to, I didn’t give up. I didn’t give up on my diet, on my exercise, on myself, and to those I was committed to. I picked myself from that floor I had thrown myself onto and tried again.

I tried so many times and failed so many times, but here I am now, 85 lbs. later. Will the failures stop now? Will I always follow my rules of being at the gym at least 5 times a week and eating a clean diet? I believe I will, but I know that if I do fail it will not stop me. I will not lay there and be trampled by failures. I will have the integrity and courage to get up and get back on my feet. I will be different. I will learn and as long as the getting up part is one more than the failure part I will be ok. I will be great. I will not be a sheep, I choose to fight, live and not die. I choose to live the life I want.

Next time you fail, next time you have that chocolate you weren’t supposed to, next time you make the choice not to go to the gym, just know you just need to get back up again. Make your courage stronger than your fear. Be who you were meant to be. Be different, be unique, be you.

7 Day Detox: Food

Good Morning Dollies,

I have seriously been lacking on this blog entries. This week has gone rather quickly. I am quite amazed its Friday already. For some reason or another I have just not had time to write my blogs or do much of anything else, which is kinda annoying. But anywhoooos here is today.

As mentioned in earlier blogs I started a Detox on January 14th and ended it the 20th. The Detox runs for a complete seven days. In these seven days all that is consumed is veggies and fruits. More veggies than fruits of course. Along with the food restrictions you also take in some supplements to clean out your system.

Now I know perhaps you are thinking to yourself that is impossible. You really can’t do it or simply you are just not willing to sacrifice that much for your weight loss. Well I really can’t help you much with the last part. One must be really be ready to loose the weight to go through this commitment. For any program, the hardest days are the first ones and that is for sure true of this program.

The hardest thing during this 7 day cleanse, I believe, is the broadening of the mind as to what you could possibly make with just veggies. All I could think of was salads, steamed, and raw. Not that many options when you are supposed to live on them for 7 days. I have had previous experiences with restraining certain foods from my diet.  So I was able to hold on for three days with that determination. Yet, on that 4th day I was pretty sick and tired of steamed and raw veggies. I began craving something that looked and tasted like a MEAL. So I began researching. Let me tell you I didn’t find many options for recipes that used no oils, but if you look hard enough there is always a recipe you can tweak to make it fit your needs.

The options are out there and with internet available at our finger tips there is no reason to fail. Loosing weight is not easy. If it was, everyone would be able to do it. One of the great things you will discover as you finish the detox is the fact that your world did not end because of your decision. You are still standing there healthy and with energy. You were more powerful than your mind’s craving for certain foods.

I think one of the greatest lessons people who loose weight learn is that although food is delicious, and always nice as a treat, its main purpose is not satisfy every single taste bud. It is to fill our bodies with the nutrients it needs. The purpose of food is to keep us HEALTHY. The purpose of food is to keep us ALIVE, not kill us. When we have made that distinction and learned that lesson it is always a little easier to pick the salad than fried chicken.

Hello Dollies!!!

This will be a quick post today. I just wanted to share with you a song that has pushed me through the last minutes of cardio. It never fails.

I don’t know about all of you out there, but I definitely need some music to go with my working out. Especially if its cardio because I need it to take me somewhere else instead of the feeling of my muscles. There have been about 5 songs that have followed me through this weight loss journey. Ones that have pushed me beyond my limits.

One of those songs is “Impacto Remix” Daddy Yankee ft. Fergie. The chorus is really what gets me through those last weights or those last three minutes of my cardio. It tells my brain not to give up. That even though its only a few more calories it will be an IMPACT (which is what Impacto means in Spanish).

The most powerful part is the chorus which repeats “Give it all you’ve got shorty, make an impacto.” That just pushes me forward. It just tells me that RIGHT NOW in those TWO minutes I can make a difference to my body. It doesn’t matter the past or the future. If I give everything right now…I will make an impact on my body, on the fat, and be what I want to be. Magically, I look forward and push that last set or the end of my cardio.

Happy Friday Dollies,

Oh my gosh I can not believe it is Friday already! Much less that it is almost the end of January. Time flies by too quickly.

Many people have asked me how I lost the weight and its a bit hard for them to believe that it was just a matter of dropping the grains and exercising that got the ball rolling for me. As I have come to loose the weight I have realized just how miserable I was being so overweight and amazed that no one ever really pointed it out. If I was getting drunk every night, someone would have said something. If my arm was full needle points, someone would have said something. Yet, as I gained the pounds no one mentioned anything about my health or happiness.

As I have transformed into another person I have decided to help those women who are READY to change. Who all that they need is a person that they can be accountable to and call/text whenever they feel like they will break their much desired goal. I know that one of the biggest reasons for my success is that I had a friend who was there for me to be accountable to and to help me change the way I viewed myself.

Morning Dollies,

As mentioned in earlier entries I began a new weight loss program. The program has two options: a rapid weight loss program and a steady weight loss program.

The reason I chose this program is because many people have asked how I lost weight and it is very hard for me to give them a structured plan. Since at the beginning it wasn’t really structured. I just stopped eating bread and anything with grains.

This program’s “Rapid Results” section is basically what I did, but it is developed and structured to help people loose weight quickly. I am not doing the “Rapid Results” one, but the “Sure & Steady Success” one because I am no longer trying to loose a lot of weight, but I am toning my body and loosing 10 pounds of fat.

Either program, you choose though, begins with a “Detox” part. In this Detox the body cleanses out all the bad stuff out of your system. During the detox all you are allowed to eat is vegetables and fruits. There are specific veggies you cant eat like, potatoes or yams. Yet, you have a large variety to choose from.

Along with your veggies and fruits, you are also taking a carb & fat inhibitor, a multi-vitamin, and a OPC-3 (helps with joints, cholesterol, and blood glucose) supplements.

Starting a new program

Hola Dollies,

It is a new year and therefore new beginnings. As most of you know I have lost about 80lbs. and then have proceeded to really tone up my body. So although I do stand at 140lbs. I do not show it as much. I have been able to fit to a size 6 and that has made me super happy.

Yet, as hard as we all try there is that one area in our bodies that is as stubborn as a mule. For me that is the tummy area. I have tried giving my abs some much needed attention. What did I get? I can feel the muscle hardening, yet the rolls above it are still there. As much effort as I put in exercising, I know it is my diet that needs cleaning.

Now may people have said how awesome and beautiful I look. How I do not need to put myself through more habit changing programs. How I should be happy with how I look know and not be such a narc for not eating bread all the time, etc. Yet one thing that I want to get across in this blog and with this program, is that it is not that easy. Food is just not food for me. Food for me was a drug, IS a drug. I am making the big change from using food as a drug to using food as a nutrient, for its real purpose. This is a huge transition that is not going to end.

So, yes I do look good, but under the clothes there are still fat that I know does not belong there. That I know is NOT what I WANT. If I don’t want it, then I won’t have it. No matter how much other people are trying to fit me into what they believe to be healthy or normal.

Therefore, I have decided to begin a weight loss solution in order to change what is left to change in my eating habits. I am hoping that through this more of the belly fat is gone.

The program is called TLS Weight Loss Solution and the reason I decided to go for this product is because it really is not a cut everything and loose weight, but a “we will teach you how to eat properly.” The first step of the program is a detox in which all that is consumed is veggies and fruits. I am looking forward to this detox in order to really clean out my system.

I did a minor one awhile ago, but not as intense as this. I am really excited to just have my body cleaned out of all that is left that shouldn’t be there. I will be talking about it here in my blog and letting you know how my progress moves along! Let me know your thoughts along the way.

Day 3: Chest/Triceps/Cardios

Hi Dollies,

Well I wasn’t able to post today’s workout last night, but here it is. The cool thing is that I can tell you about it now. Today’s work out was awesome because my little triceps were trembling. I love when my muscles shake. Although, I did realize I need to be more careful as to with which exercises they tremble. Here was my plan for today:

So what happened today was that instead of following my plan I decided to do the chest part, then for the triceps I went backwards. I did the Dips first, then the Decline, and finishing up with the Skull Crusher. If you don’t know what the skull crusher is you can check out this video.

Basically though, it’s where you lay down on a bench and push up a barbell so your arms are extended. Then you bend your arms so the barbell either comes straight in front of your forehead or just in front of your head. This then works your triceps. Here is a pic:

Well by the time I got to this exercise I had pushed my triceps with 6 other sets of other resistance exercises. When my arms extended straight up they would shake so much! At first I was like “yeaaaaah!”, but then I realized that this was probably not the safest place to have my muscles fail me. Since I could just drop that bar on my chest or head. Note taken: think through your plan! I will stick to my plan and keep the dips to the last. It is better to fail on a dip machine than while performing a skull crusher. Not really into making the exercise a literal one! If you know what I mean!

Hello Dollies,

I am super excited to share with you one of the websites that has helped me so much to not only loose weight, but tone up. I discovered this website perhaps about a year and a half ago. I was starting to get into weight lifting and was looking for a place to learn how to do the exercises properly. http://www.bodybuilding.com popped up and since then I have been hooked.

I mostly used this website to guide my way through weights. I was pretty confident on my cardio routine and did not use it for that. Now what is super awesome about this website, is that they give you full written out plans that any beginner can start using. In this entry I will show you how to find a plan.

  1. You launch the wesbite: www.bodybuilding.com  It will take you to something similar to this:

  2. You will want to go to your left hand side and click the FIND A PLAN link.

  3. Once you click there it will take you to a page that looks like this:

  4. Then it will be three steps…Click your gender (Female for me), what is your goal (muscle building for me), and Age (20-39 for me).

     

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. The website will then take you to a list of plans. Then it is up to you to find one that either fits your time or your interest.        My very first plan was the one from Jamie Easton 12 Week Tone and Define Program:

 

 

 

Now as mentioned before the AWESOME thing about this website is that it gives you the program ALL LAID out for you. Day by Day, week after week. Until the end of the program. This is how Day ONE looks for the 12 week program.

 

The next awesomeness is that this website tells you and teaches you how to do EVERY Single movement. So for example lets say I have no idea what the Freehand Jump Squat is. Then I would click on it and go to the Full Details page. Not only will they give me a video that shows me how to do the exercise:

 

They also give you pictures of how you should start and end each rep.

 

They ALSO give you a written description along with a body highlighting the muscles you should be focusing on during the exercise.

 

Then they provide you with alternatives in case you don’t feel like you can accomplish this exercise and need something different!

 

An to top it off they provide an option to print out the exercises! =O I mean isn’t that just COOL!

On the next entry I will look more into the detail of the exercise pages. On this entry I really just wanted to introduce you to the awesomeness of this website and encourage you to use it! This website has been my exercise bible. It is what I rely on. The great thing is that if I view the videos on my android I can download them directly to my phone which is SWEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTT!!!!! *giggles* I LOVE that part.

Please do check them out! What I mentioned is one little part of all they have to offer. They also have fat loss focused plans. I hope you guys give them a REAL try and then follow their plans. Once you get more comfy with them you can start creating your own. Which is what I am doing this week. =)
